The Young Vote - Is it worth it?

To clarify to start off with I am a young person, who would be considered a part of the young vote, being as it is my first time to vote for a president.
That being said, I'm kind of worried about the young vote. Maybe I'm just not completely convinced everyone is as informed as they should be and are just voting because its historic. Mr. A made a point in one of the episodes that it isn't hard to get a lot of people, especially young men, to fight for something they don't understand or believe in. I'm extremely skeptical of the young vote. The logic behind the voting age being changed to 18 was that if you're young enough to fight for your country and die for it you should be able to vote for it to. It's definitely become more apparent that the young vote is going to be a big factor in the election. Is my animosity warranted? Or has this feeling always existed in years passed? I would find it hard to be similar, with the exception of the year they changed it.
Maybe I shouldn't be the one to talk. Maybe I'm not as informed as I should be. But if I'm not informed, if you compare me to the average student who might vote, and talking to my friends I might be a little more informed than them, then maybe the young vote really isn't informed. Is any vote really ever informed? Young and Old? I'd love to hear Mr. A's opinion on it...if he ever comes back....

Well, it isn't so much that the young vote is uninformed, as it is frequently disinterested. 18-21 year olds usually aren't that political, as they're either busy with college or more focused on getting laid than on who's running the country. Once you turn 21, there's a couple of years when going to bars every chance you get is pretty interesting-after all, you've been kept out of them for so long, you wanna revel in your newfound acceptance into the adult world.
Me, I voted for the first time when I was 20, not because I was that interested in politics, but because my birthday is usually right on or shortly after Election Day every year. By the time everyone's getting around to wishing me a Happy Birthday, they've usually been bloviating about whoever it is that's running for office. After a few years, I started getting a Pavlovian response out of it-the political stuff was usually a precursor to my birthday celebration, so naturally I turned into a political asshole in my mid-twenties. That, and I moved to DC when I was in my teens, and people there would rather go on about politics that eat, so it's easy to get sucked into it. I think one of my first rules when it came to dating was Thou Shalt Never Date or Have Sex With a Republican.
